Kinesiotaping & Bracing

  • A woman with a purple and pink kinesio tape on her arm.

The Kinesio-Taping Method is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions. It is a safe method that may provide benefits as soon as applied. The tape in hypo-allergenic and remains on your skin for 3 to 5 days. Swimming or showers encouraged! Dr. Meyer often combines K-tape with other modalities to help you regain your function by reducing pain.

Braces are supports that you wear for painful musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis or to immobilize a joint. Some people use them to prevent injuries during sports. Braces are made from combinations of metal, foam, plastic, elastic material and straps.

Bracing can help by:
• Relieving your pain
• Resting the injured tissues by reducing some of the stressful loads
• Protecting the injured structures from further injury
• Allowing for initial tissue healing
• Preventing future injury by support or joint stabilization.

As a rehabilitation physician, Dr. Meyer is trained in the appropriate bracing equipment needed to help reduce pain and improve your function.
